As the polymer industry continues to expand, plastic products account for an increasing share of industrial production and daily life. However, most plastic raw materials are flammable and prone to dripping, creating serious fire-safety concerns. Although flame-retardant plastics have become widely used in recent years, investigations of many fires have shown that burning droplets from plastic products can ignite other objects and spread the fire. Consequently, regulations increasingly require flame-retardant plastics to provide anti-dripping performance.

High-molecular-weight SR-D50F can be used as a flame-retardant anti-dripping agent and is available as neat powder, encapsulated, and emulsion types, with neat-powder and encapsulated types being the most common.

Because of its molecular structure, neat-powder SR-D50F is relatively tacky and poorly compatible with base plastics. It readily agglomerates in the plastic matrix, impairing surface uniformity and transparency, and therefore cannot be used in some applications requiring high surface smoothness and transparency.
Encapsulated anti-dripping agents coat ultrafine SR-D50F particles with a resin layer, preventing agglomeration. This enables uniform dispersion in the base plastic without compromising surface smoothness or transparency and allows the agent to deliver superior anti-dripping performance.
