NOVARON Inorganic Antibacterial Agent

NOVARON is a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent in which silver particles are supported on an inorganic ion exchanger. Originally developed by Toagosei Co., Ltd. of Japan, it is an advanced functional material. NOVARON is a fine powder with a uniform particle size, extremely low moisture absorption, and excellent heat resistance. It can be readily and uniformly incorporated into fibers, films, and molded plastic-resin products, and it disperses exceptionally well in coatings. Its physical and chemical properties are highly stable, providing excellent resistance to staining and discoloration during both processing and use. NOVARON also offers a high level of safety and has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Features

 Key Advantages
• High heat resistance and easy processing: withstands temperatures above 800°C and can be blended directly into resins
• Comprehensive grade range for selecting the optimum grade for each application
• Excellent resistance to discoloration
• Grades with an average particle size of 1 μm and a very narrow particle-size distribution, suitable for textiles, films, and coatings
• Extremely low moisture content, minimizing bubble formation during heat processing
• Long-lasting antibacterial and antifungal performance

Applications

Household Goods Cutting boards, triangular sink strainers, cups, food containers, sponges, hangers, remote-control covers, and more.
Interior Furnishings and Building Materials Wallpaper, flooring, sinks, kitchen countertops, furniture, sealants, towels, and more.
Home Appliances Refrigerators, washing machines, televisions, dishwashers, humidifiers, smartphones, game consoles, and more.
Other Applications Sporting goods, dolls, modeling clay, puzzles, hand dryers, escalator handrails, and more.

Antibacterial Mechanism

Silver ions present on the surface of the antibacterial agent, or released from it, bind to bacterial enzymes and disrupt bacterial metabolic function.
